Indirect Sourcing Category Manager (Project Management)
Job Summary
Medline Industries has an immediate opening for an Indirect Sourcing Category Manager position supporting our Kitting organization. This position will be based out of our Northfield, IL headquarters and will offer a hybrid model of work. The Indirect Sourcing Category Manager will manage all indirect purchases for the respective site(s) to ensure the continuity of supplies and services while supporting operations. This includes analyzing market conditions, business needs, and technical requirements to identify cost-saving opportunities. You will collaborate closely with leadership and site teams to develop sourcing strategies, ensure alignment with company policies and procedures, and achieve annual goals and objectives. Additionally, the role involves negotiating favorable terms with suppliers, resolving quality issues, and managing a diverse mix of product categories to optimize costs and drive operational efficiency.Job Description
Responsibilities
Manage indirect spend categories to drive to best-cost, supply continuity and reducing risk. Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers and vendor partners. Leader and owner of category management driving key vendor conversations.
Manage $75-100M in spend across indirect categories.
Provide strategic insights on Global and geopolitical changes impacting tariffs, inflation and other risk. Define strategies to overcome obstacles driving higher costs and supply instability.
Provide high-level expertise on all managed categories. Provide guidance and recommend actions to reduce costs based on continuous improvement processes within Manufacturing, Operations, or other cost-down initiatives.
Manage supplier relationships to secure cost reductions through effective negotiation on pricing and product development opportunities. Contribute to the creation of long-term vendor contracts, year over year savings to drive cost efficiency.
Collaborate with Corporate Indirect Procurement team to understand Global strategies for Indirect categories and leverage Medline's spend to drive cost reduction initiatives for the Division
Develop and execute a risk profile for each category. Consider business continuity, and regional geopolitical factors. Recommend suppliers based on that strategic risk assessment
Assist in the creation and implementation of sourcing strategies to drive vendor performance. Including vendor allocation optimization, re-sourcing and cost containment/reductions for assigned categories. Provide insights based on market research and supplier performance to help optimize the strategy.
Identify new cost-savings opportunities within the category to drive GM growth. Support the identification and implementation of Site key initiatives and assist in negotiating long-term deals with suppliers to secure favorable pricing and terms.
Contribute to development of new strategies for designated categories. Align with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, quality or other business partners) to understand requirements to ensure supplier qualification and quality. Support building business cases based on internal analytics, a deep understanding of Medline business requirements, industry trends and best practices.

3 to 5 of experience in indirect procurement or sourcing
