KJRH, the NBC station in Tulsa, Oklahoma, owned by The E.W. Scripps Company is looking to hire a Senior Reporter / MMJ / Anchor. This person will turn a story daily before co-anchoring the station's hour-long 6 PM newscast on weekdays. As a Senior Reporter, you'll know how to dig for and break top-level stories that matter to viewers on-air and online. You'll need MMJing skills including researching, writing, capturing visual content, and editing stories for multiple platforms. Tulsa is a city rich with history that offers a low cost of living. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Generate ideas for stories for multiple platforms.
Report live on location from various news events.
Prepare factual stories for viewers.
Research stories through personal contacts, the internet, and other sources deciding the best angle and approach for the story.
Collaborate effectively with News, Promotion, Production and Engineering on daily broadcasts, special projects, and online coverage.
Participate in community events.
Build a network of informational sources to provide exclusive stories for the Scripps brand.
Pitch, shoot, write, edit, and track compelling enterprise, breaking, and hard news stories.
Meet all production deadlines.
Periodically required to drive personal or company vehicle to cover various assignments.
Complete other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
BS/BA in a related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
Generally, 5+ years of experience in a related field preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Strong communication skills, oral and written
Storytelling ability
Teamwork attitude
Exceptional and engaging on-air personality
Multitask multiple stories
Advanced ability in critical thinking
Ability to edit stories on Final Cut Pro or similar equipment
Ability to shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company-required insurance limits
