Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Neurology (Neurocognitive) (Finance)
The Neurocognitive Disorders Center is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow with expertise in neuroimaging to contribute to ongoing research in Alzheimer's disease (AD), Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), and related neurodegenerative conditions. This position offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team of neurologists, utilizing advanced imaging techniques to explore biomarkers for early disease detection, diagnosis, and prognosis.
Key Responsibilities: • Conduct quantitative analysis of MRI and PET scans, integrating findings with clinical, cognitive, and biomarker data.
• Apply advanced neuroimaging techniques to assess structural and functional brain changes in neurodegenerative diseases.
• Develop and implement image processing pipelines, utilizing software such as FreeSurfer, SPM, and FSL.
• Engage in collaborative research to refine imaging-based diagnostic criteria and explore radiological biomarkers.
• Prepare and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
• Ensure compliance with IRB protocols and ethical standards for human imaging research.
• Mentor and support graduate students, medical trainees, and research assistants in neuroimaging methodologies.
This fellowship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research while developing independent projects in neuroimaging and computational analysis. The ideal candidate will have expertise in neuroimaging techniques, and a strong interest in neurodegeneration research.
Depending on level expertise , these are possible areas of involvement:
Responsibilities
• 1. Neuroimaging Analysis & Interpretation o Analyze MRI and PET scans from subjects with Alzheimer's Disease (AD), Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), and other neurological conditions.
• o Apply advanced neuroimaging techniques to assess structural and functional changes related to early disease markers.
• o Compare imaging findings to clinical, cognitive, and biomarker data.

• 2. Radiological Correlation & Clinical Integration o Investigate radiological biomarkers for early detection and differentiation of neurodegenerative diseases.
• o Work closely with neuroradiologists and neurologists to interpret findings in a research setting.
• o Work on imaging-based criteria to improve diagnosis and prognosis of AD, NPH, and related disorders.

• 3. Data Processing & Computational Analysis o Utilize image processing software (e.g., FreeSurfer, SPM, FSL) and machine learning tools to extract quantitative imaging biomarkers.
• o Develop pipelines for automated image segmentation, volumetric analysis, and radiomics-based approaches.

• 4. Research & Manuscript Development o Conduct independent and collaborative research on imaging biomarkers in neurodegeneration.
• o Prepare and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
• o Contribute to grant proposals and progress reports for funding agencies.

• 5. Collaboration & Interdisciplinary Engagement o Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of neurologists, neuroradiologists, physicists, and data scientists.
• o Participate in research meetings, journal clubs, and collaborative projects with industry and academic partners.

• 6. Regulatory & Ethical Compliance o Ensure compliance with IRB protocols and ethical guidelines for human imaging research.
• o Maintain accurate records and documentation of imaging data and research findings.

• 7. Mentorship & Training o Assist in mentoring graduate students, medical students, and research assistants in neuroimaging techniques and analysis.
• o Provide guidance on study design, data interpretation, and manuscript preparation
