Assistant Research Professor, Computer Science & Eng (Finance)
The Center of Innovation, Technology and Aging (CITA) and the College of AI, cybersecurity and computing (CAICC) are jointly seeking to hire an Assistant Research Professor whose research aligns with CITA's research vision and can teach computer science undergraduate and graduate courses. Preferred candidates will have completed a PhD in computer science or a related area from an accredited institution. Successful candidates will mentored by the Center Director for research and grant proposal development. This recruitment is for a non-tenure earning full-time research position, renewable for up to two years. The expected teaching load is two courses per academic year - some courses can be in the candidate's research area. Successful candidates can start as early as summer 2025.

Center of Innovation, Technology and Aging (CITA). CITA has 35 affiliated professors from eight colleges across the three USF campuses: College of AI, cybersecurity and computing; College of Engineering; College of Behavioral and Community Sciences; College of Arts and Sciences; Morsani College of Medicine; College of Education; College of Nursing; College of Public Health. The Center is supported by a team of research coordinators and research assistants. CITA is dedicated to developing intelligent systems and technologies to transform the landscape of care for individuals with AD/ADRD, and subsequently for other vulnerable older adults with disabilities such as Parkinson's disease and those recovering from stroke.
Established in 2024, the Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing is the first of its kind in Florida and one of the pioneers in the nation to bring together the disciplines of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and computing into a dedicated college. The college serves as a central hub for advancing foundational knowledge and interdisciplinary collaborations, catalyzing innovation across all academic fields. By integrating AI and cybersecurity expertise into varied disciplines, the college fosters a seamless environment where ethical, secure and responsible computing technologies are developed The college's structure is both integrative and pioneering, applying a \"hub-and-spoke\" model to maintain strong ties with colleges across USF while serving as a dedicated focal point for artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and computing education and research.

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in academic research. Must meet university criteria for appointment which is equivalent to that required of the rank of Assistant Professor.
PREFERRED:
Preferred candidates will have completed a PhD in computer science or a related area from an accredited institution. Preferred candidates will have a strong research record to include multiple publications in high impact venues. Preferred candidates will be able to lead and collaborate on aging-related multidisciplinary research and grant proposal development with faculty from the Center for Innovation, Technology, and Aging (CITA) and the Bellini College of AI, Cybersecurity, and Computing. The candidate will contribute expertise in AI/ML, robotics, human-computer interaction (HCI), and related fields to develop innovative biomarkers, condition monitoring methods, assistance technologies, and intervention approaches.

This job is subject to Foreign Influence Screening: During the 2021 Florida legislative session, House Bill 7017 ("HB 7017") was passed and later signed into law by Governor DeSantis. The new law modifies a variety of Florida Statutes to address concerns regarding improper foreign influence. With regard to employment at major research institutions like the University of South Florida, the new law requires thorough review of certain applicants for positions involving research.
