Equipment Manager (Transportation)
Position Summary
The Equipment Manager will be responsible to protect and maximize the life of PRI Fleet Vehicles and equipment. This will include completing or arranging for the repair and maintenance of all PRI equipment to ensure reliable and safe equipment is available to the various departments of PRI. Typical duties will include general vehicle, trailer and tire maintenance, tractor and farm implement, power tools and other power driven equipment commonly used in PRI field of operations. Additional duties will include managing the equipment inventory list, replacement schedules and vehicle registration/DOT certification data base companywide and working with the Director of Operation and Finance Team to forecast renewal dates and cost planning for licenses, registration and equipment purchase needs. The Equipment Manager will act as a liaison between sites to build a culture of equipment safety, preventative maintenance and training. During peak season times the Equipment Manager may assess the need for and oversee the hiring additional Equipment Assistants as workload dictates.
Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance
To maintain and repair the equipment of the various PRI locations as requested by the site managers and seed or plant managers.To oversee and direct the scheduling and implementation of equipment maintenance and repairs at all PRI locations.To be able to modify or create special equipment that would have specific needs for projects.To assist managers and directors in new equipment purchases, models and allocations.Bench work which may include chain repairs, parts repairs and/or maintenance of power tools (electric/air impact/fuel).Vehicle loading and unloadingVehicle Inspection checklists including lights, signals, wiring and tire pressure.Trailer inspections for noticeable maintenance including tire mounting and dismounting.Maintaining work and time keeping records timely and accuratelyTo maintain clean, safe working conditions and facilities.To help establish preventive maintenance policies and records of equipment maintenance, build and maintain the equipment database and company networkBe a member of the Safety Committee and act as a subject matter expert to contribute to company equipment training programs and certification needs in an effort to ensure a culture of safety.
Work Environment
Regularly works around vehicles and farm implement, power driven tools and equipment with moving parts inside a traditional mechanical shop which may cause exposure to fumes and exhaust. Outside conditions include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times. Occasional travel and overnight stays when necessary.
Physical Demands
Must be able to move objects up to 50 lbs. and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs. This position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.
