View Point Health Adult Residential Substance Detoxification is a short-term, 24/7 acute care, detox unit located in Covington, GA. Care is primarily focused on supervision, observation, and support for individuals during withdrawal management.
Residential Withdrawal Management is characterized by its emphasis on medical monitoring and/or on peer/social support. We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our multi-disciplinary team to be responsible for implementing and monitoring nursing services in the medical detoxification residential program.
View Point Health provides person-centered care and assists with implementing our unit programming based on evidenced-based practices for substance use detox, brief treatment and early recovery supports. Nurses will implement nursing care in accordance with program procedures established by the Medical Director and Nursing Manager and approved by the Director.
Under general supervision, assesses client health problems and needs. Develops and implements nursing care plans and maintains medical records. Administers nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled clients. May advise clients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct the initial comprehensive nursing assessment and other relevant clinical documentation including but not limited to Treatment Plans, initials CONNECTS and behavioral health assessments.Administering drugs, medications, treatments, inoculations, and tests as allowed by law.Implementing verbal physician orders and authenticating in writing, within a reasonable time, and included in the patient record.Communicating with physicians, Nurse Practitioners, nurses, and pharmacistsCompleting other tasks within the scope of registered nurses and the program services and proceduresCollaborates and assists clinical and direct care staff to coordinate discharges and transitions of care with internal and external referral sources.Oversee the overall wellness and safety of the client and work collaboratively with other disciplines to carry out treatment plans accordingly. Use the eight rights of medication administration, as well as two client identifiers any time medications are administered. Monitor client treatment, including the effects and efficacy of medications.Report progress to Medical Provider, including the efficacy of medication and observable side effects.Manage and monitor stable medical conditions while client is at the Detox center, and make appropriate recommendations, such as sending client to the ER. Attend daily treatment team and 72-hour treatment team with client and other staff. Document all vital client information in the electronic health record according to standards.Assist with orienting new staff to shift.Provide relief for breaks and assist with Direct Care floor coverage as needed.Attend all training courses, nurses meetings, and other staff meetings as assigned.This position may require long periods of sitting and/or standing.Employees are subject to random drug screens.The Registered Nurse (RN) may occasionally assume a Charge Nurse position.Actively and compassionately interacts with patients to encourage engagement in treatment after completion of detoxification.Oversees all aspects of the detox patient admission process, including o Pre-screening of new patients for appropriateness for admission, including TB screening. Obtaining physical assessment data and health history, Inventorying and caring for patients personal possessions.Maintains a safe and sanitary environment applying principles of medical asepsis and applying infection control techniques and universal precautions.Provides patient education on health care, as assigned or appropriate.Implements safety and emergency procedures during fire drills and other disaster procedures, with assistance to patients and children in the detox and residential programs.Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university OR associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND any related professional work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Able to read, analyze, and interpret policies and directions and present information effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to deal with chemically dependent individuals non-judgmentally and with caring and compassion. Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with other staff as well as with referral sources. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and evaluate information presented in research reports, professional publications, referral documents and similar materials. Ability to write clearly and cohesively and to present information effectively both orally and in writing.Experience working in an outpatient mental health setting; Knowledge and experience using Carelogic Electronic Records System
Requirements/Competencies:
Must be able to lift 20 pounds.Requires long periods of sitting/standing.Must have valid Georgia drivers license and Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy.Candidates for selection must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting).Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and subject to random drug screens.Any combination of training and experience, which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.Other duties as assigned.
