Postdoctoral Research Fellow - School of Public Health (Finance)

A postdoctoral position is available at the Department of Epidemiology and the Center for Spatial- Temporal Modeling for Applications in Population Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to conduct epidemiological studies on a wide range of research topics, including but not limited to health effects of sleep deficiency and circadian disruption, metabolomics, and neighborhood contribution to health behaviors and health outcomes. Specific job responsibilities will include conducting analyses using existing data from multiple large cohort and cross-sectional studies, writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication, and assisting grant applications.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in public health or related disciplines. Applicants with a doctoral degree in another discipline may be considered if they possess adequate skills to conduct population research. Preferred skills include epidemiological/statistical approaches, population cohort studies and secondary data analyses.

1. Plans and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and prepares publications describing results.
2. Assists in training and mentoring of lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees.
3. Reads and evaluates literature.
4. Possess interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels.
5. Have strong written and oral communication skills.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
