Research Technician (Project Management)
Biochemistry lab at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center looking for research technician. Will work under close supervision by principal investigator (and eventually with help from graduate students or postdocs) to: (1) manage a moderate size mouse colony, including genotyping and performing mouse surgery (stereotactic injection of viral expression vectors); (2) perform molecular biology procedures including plasmid DNA preparation, PCR, subcloning, biochemical assays, bacterial expression of fluorescent proteins, and fluorescence analysis (It may include in-lab production of adeno-associated viruses); and (3) perform tissue culture (cell line maintenance and transfection). (4) There may also be the opportunity to do semi-independent projects on electrophysiology, dynamic monitoring of oxygen consumption in brain tissue and/or fluorescent biosensor imaging to study brain metabolism. The candidate should be well-organized, motivated, and a responsible team member.
Duties:
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, or other health related field.
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months equivalent experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree.
