Test Engineer II (Finance)

Job Summary
The Test Engineer will be responsible for both manual testing and automated validation solutions to ensure the integrity of data pipelines and transformations. This role requires extensive experience in Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and SSIS and a deep understanding of data quality frameworks and tooling. The successful candidate will be accountable for implementing and maintaining data quality tools, troubleshooting data discrepancies, and enhancing data governance practices.
In addition to technical testing responsibilities, this role will work closely with business users leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT) efforts. The Test Engineer will be responsible for coordinating and leading UAT meetings, ensuring that stakeholders understand data validation processes, and guiding them through testing activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with business users to support UAT testing activities, gather feedback, and document findings.
2. Conduct SOL-based testing to compare source and target datasets, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues.
3. Conduct performance and load testing on ETL pipelines to ensure scalability and efficiency.
4. Design, execute, and automate data testing strategies for ETL and data pipeline validation.
5. Document defects, data anomalies, and test results, providing clear reports to development teams.
6. Ensure compliance with data governance policies and best practices.
7. Lead UAT meetings, coordinating test plans, issue tracking, and resolution efforts.
8. Monitor and test data ingestion, transformation, and storage across cloud and on-prem environments.
9. Perform both manual data validation and build automated testing solutions for structured and semi- structured data.
10. Take ownership of data quality tooling, including configuration, monitoring, and enhancements.
11. Utilize Python, PowerShell, or Bash to develop automated test scripts where applicable.
12. Validate and troubleshoot data flows in Databricks, ADF, and SSIS, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
13. Work with data engineers to enhance testing automation frameworks and Cl/CD integration.
Minimum Job Requirements
1. 5+ years of experience in data testing, ETL testing, or data quality assurance.
2. Experience leading UAT efforts, coordinating with business users, and ensuring smooth execution.
3. Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and SSIS for ETL workflows.
4. Experience with Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automated testing preferred.
5. Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and cloud-based testing methodologies.
6. Experience with manual data validation and automating test scenarios.
7. Familiarity with Azure Synapse, Power Bl, and big data technologies preferred.
8. Ownership of data quality tooling and experience configuring, managing, and optimizing these tools.
9. Proficiency in SOL with experience writing complex queries for data validation.
10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
11. Strong expertise in Databricks with hands-on experience in data validation and transformation testing.
12. Strong understanding of data governance, data lineage, and metadata management.
13. Understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies in a data engineering environment preferred.
