Financial Analyst (Finance)

Job Summary
This position will analyze hydrocarbon inventory transactions and evaluate corrections needed to properly reflect CITGO's inventory by location to accurately reflect inventory on the balance sheet. This position will be responsible for reconciling and ensuring that RIN reporting information is timely, accurate and complete with each 3rd party vendor. This position is responsible for completing basic financial analysis, which includes identifying the need for accrual entries and other general ledger entries. Use creative thinking skills for problems solving. Perform analytical tasks independent of direct daily supervision
Minimum Qualifications
1. Monthly Analysis & Reconciliations: • Prepare Refinery inventory reconciliations for various hydrocarbon products and locations using Right Angle and operational supporting schedules (yield, truck rack, inspection reports, etc.). • Prepare reconciliations of Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs) to ensure that RINs attached to physical purchases and recorded in RA match to those received in EMTS. Initiate RIN returns with Compliance and vendors as needed. • Prepare volumetric barge & vessel reconciliations using inspection reports and record the corresponding load or discharge gain or loss. • Perform GL account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of accounting records and compliance with GAAP 55
2. Transaction analysis and report review (activities may involve some or all of the following) - • Monitor various reports in Right Angle throughout the month to ensure that biofuels movements are actualized timely by the scheduling team and available for invoice processing by accounts payable. Monitor, research, and provide support to the Accounts Payable group as needed. Additionally, monitor the GR/IR account in SAP. • Monitor multiple Right-Angle reports to ensure completeness and accuracy between our systems of records (e.g. interface report, transactions not account coded, etc). • Analyze current month Ethanol and Biodiesel Purchase and Sales Volumes and compare to historical trends to ensure accounting records are reasonable. • Analyze secondary costs recorded in Right Angle for all Biofuel movements and evaluate the reasonableness of accruals generated by Right Angle. • Develop and maintain documented procedures for the activities performed. • Serve as back up for other Analysts in the group as needed.
3. GAAP Accounting - Perform continuous review and evaluation of transactions within assigned area to ensure recorded results are in agreement with generally accepted accounting principles. When processes are not in agreement with GAAP, modify those processes to remove the possibility of audit exceptions and later corrections.
4. Collaborate and consult with operations personnel such as schedulers, traders, product supply contract administration and master data in order to analyze volumetric issues for resolution of inventory transactions and issues with third parties.
5. Conduct simple to complex financial and accounting analysis as requested by supervisor
