TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Technician II to join our team in Portland, Maine.

Summary: Performs on-site servicing, repair and/or installation and maintenance of electronic toll collection equipment installed throughout the regional service area. This job may include any aspect of field support including troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment, systems, and wiring; installation of equipment; upgrades, modifications, programming; preventive maintenance actions; documentation. Work hours include on-call shifts on a rotating basis with other technicians to ensure 24/7 availability for system support, including night and weekend shifts as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Installation, preventive and corrective maintenance of toll collection equipment to include Point of Sale Terminals; Receipt Printers; Traffic lights; Patron Feed Back Displays; in-lane roadway sensors and axle counters; loop detectors; lane controllers (servers & PC hardware); Violation Enforcement System; power supplies; digital video surveillance equipment; network components (routers, switches, cabling)
Completes reports, logs, and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and local practices.
Responds to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within an acceptable time frame.
Diagnoses, identifies and repairs/replace hardware assemblies and/or components.
Reports technical status of system with accuracy and completeness.
Maintenance of spare equipment and parts including inventory management
Module or PC Board swap out.
Isolation of faults in units or components
Field test of units or components
Electronic filing of work orders
Required Skills and Experience:
High School or GED minimum, Certificate program or Associates in electronics/electrical engineering preferred.
A Certification desired
Prior working experience in electronics maintenance or field repair a plus
Solid soldering skills
Demonstrated working knowledge of computer software: MS Server. Linux. Win OS. MS Office.
Fundamental knowledge of Networking
Fundamental electrical/mechanical knowledge
Prior electronic bench repair experience a plus
Ability to diagnose system problems using a voltmeter.
Ability to bend, squat, crawl, reach and maneuver in tight spaces both underground and above ground via bucket truck.
Ability to lift/carry up to 70 pounds occasionally.
Good writing, communication, mechanical, and computer skills
Must maintain driver's license in good standing as verified by TransCore.
Driving record must be free of DUI/DWI for a three-year period prior to employment.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
Skill: Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
Job Complexity: Works on assignments requiring some judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
Supervision: Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience.
Driving Requirement: Must have a valid driver's license and clean driver's record.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to diagnose common problems and apply specified solutions.
