Acupuncturist (Healthcare)

The salary for this position starts at $25.06 hourly. We take into consideration an individuals background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.
1. Job Summary:
The Acupuncturist is responsible for consulting with clients and providing acupuncture in one-on-one or community group settings using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) modalities to address a specific illness or condition. The incumbent will create wellbeing plans based on assessment while advancing access to whole-person health and wellbeing services and programs in accordance with YMCA values, policies and procedures.
2. Essential Functions:
Consult with clients, discuss options and preventative measures and provide individual and community group acupuncture/TCM modalities
Treat up to 12 clients in a two-hour community group setting
Understand the Clean Needle Technique
Ensure all safety, infection, quality and environmental procedures and rules are in place and used (e.g., needles and other tools)
Review new patient paperwork, ask additional questions to develop a diagnosis, and explain the basics of acupuncture/TCM
Ability to determine TCM diagnoses and develop wellbeing plans quickly
Document and chart client session notes in digital practice management system
Create a comfortable and confidential space (physically and emotionally) for all clients to feel welcome
Ensure safe and effective client experience, responding to and reporting any accidents or incidents
Respond to and communicate all client concerns and feedback in a timely manner to your supervisor
Arrive for session promptly and dressed business casual
Responsible for checking in clients, scheduling appointments and processing payment
Follow and enforce appointment schedule and cancellation policy
Explore and engage in opportunities to grow client base through interactions within community
Actively practices referral to other integrative health and wellbeing disciplines within the wellbeing team
Advise on acupuncture/TCM modalities and philosophy of whole-person wellbeing when the organization is establishing new culture, products, programs, and services
Assist with developing highly engaging educational content for both, virtual and in-person experiences
May represent the YMCA in the community, participating via in-person and virtual public relations and promotional activities (as needed)
Obtain, maintain, and provide required certification and proper licensing related to acupuncture/TCM
Adhere to the YMCAs HIPAA policies and procedures and ensure participants protected health information is secure
Attend all required team discussions (meetings, emails or conference calls)
Connect with supervisor on a regular basis to update on program status and progress
Travel to community locations for in-person program delivery as needed
3. Relationships:
This position reports to Senior Director of Integrative Health and Wellbeing, who reports to the Vice President of Whole-Person Wellbeing. The incumbent interacts regularly with members and clients, responding to their needs and provides feedback in a professional manner. The incumbent also interacts with staff from YMCA locations and George Wellbeing.
4. Qualifications:
Required:
Masters degree or post-baccalaureate certificate from a school accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM)
Current certification by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncturists and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in acupuncture or NCCAOM certification in Oriental medicine
Current MN Acupuncturist License Requirements
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and regulations
Excellent customer service, active listening and verbal communication skills with an empathetic bedside manner
Ability to provide clients with guidance and information about the benefits of acupuncture/TCM as an integral part of their overall whole-person wellbeing
Demonstrated ability working with a diverse population and ability levels
Values philosophy of whole-person health and wellbeing (i.e., mind, body, spirit, community and environment)
Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
Flexibility to travel and deliver services at multiple locations
Available evenings and weekends
Preferred:
2 to 5 year experience delivering acupuncture/TCM
Advanced training and certification in additional TCM modalities (e.g., herbal, nutrition, massage etc.)
Ability to formulate herbal preparations based on their herbal properties to address conditions
Safety certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), First Aid, and Oxygen Administration
6. Work Conditions:
Stretch, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs and move heavy equipment on a daily basis
Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in the event of an emergency
Flexibility to travel and deliver services at multiple locations
