Lead Maintenance Services Mechanic (Finance)
The County of Riverside Facilities Management Department has an opportunity for a Lead Maintenance Services Mechanic to support the Indio East Shop Team. This position will be based at the Blythe Facilities Maintenance Office.
The Lead Maintenance Services Mechanic will assign, inspect and perform skilled and semi-skilled work required for preventive and corrective action on electrical, plumbing, HVAC: chillers and blowers and other mechanical systems and equipment.
The selected candidate will perform more specialized and skilled work in the repair and maintenance of building systems and equipment, as well as, lead year-round maintenance programs. Lead responsibilities will include: assignment of preventive and corrective work for members of the building maintenance staff, custodians and specialized trades workers (locksmith, welder and plasterer). And, r eviewing the work of other building maintenance staff stationed in outlying County facilities through periodic inspections of the buildings and grounds, under their care.
Competitive candidates will possess prior professional journey level experience in finished carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC and basic computer skills in Microsoft Outlook (e-mail) and Excel.
This 9/80 position is for the day-time shift from 7A-5P Monday - Friday with every other Friday 7A-4P and may require being available for repair or maintenance calls, which may occur 7 days a week/24 hours a day.
Meet the Team! Riverside County Department of Facilities Management provides property management and operations services for county owned and leased facilities throughout the 7,200 square miles of Riverside County and over 14 million square feet of space. The department is responsible for keeping county buildings safe, comfortable and productive for both county staff and the public.• Assigns and inspects a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on building structures, systems, and equipment.
• Assigns, inspects, and performs maintenance and repair work on power mowers and related equipment.
• Coordinates staff assignments according to the skills needed for specific work projects; estimates time requirements and orders needed supplies for individual maintenance projects.
• Makes periodic inspections of County facilities in outlying areas to ensure that appropriate maintenance work is being performed and to direct on-site maintenance staff regarding building and/or grounds conditions that need attention.
• Inspects buildings and equipment to locate and identify needed repairs or maintenance; inspects work being performed to ensure that safe work practices and procedures are being followed.
• Reads building plans, equipment diagrams, and sketches; Makes direct contact with vendors to purchase specialized parts which require technical knowledge of the equipment involved.
• Assigns and reviews scheduled preventive maintenance on boilers, hot water heaters, and other plumbing systems.
• Assigns and participates in the moving of office furniture and equipment within buildings.
• Services and maintains electrical and mechanical building equipment and a variety of electrical and mechanical appliances.
• Services and repairs electrical and mechanical doors, gate locks, and latches; Repairs and rebuilds electric motors, pumps, and compressors; Uses, adjusts, and repairs hand and power tools needed for a wide variety of maintenance projects.
• May occasionally do carpentry, plastering, painting, masonry, welding, roofing, and other trades work associated with building and equipment maintenance.ExperienceFive years of experience performing rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, or building plant operation and maintenance work which has provided a working knowledge in all of these fields.
Other Requirements
Possession of a valid California Driver License: Class C

Knowledge Of
Methods, materials, and equipment used in building maintenance and repair work, and in the operation and repair of plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and electrical systems; The methods, materials and equipment used to repair and rebuild power lawn mowers and related equipment, pumps, compressors, and small motors; Safety orders of the Division of Industrial Safety dealing with heating, electrical, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
Ability To
Read and write English at the level necessary for successful job performance; Perform maintenance and repair work on plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and electrical systems, mechanical equipment, building structures, and various types of electrical appliances, pumps, and motors; Read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings, and specifications; Keep records; Follow oral and written directions; Lay out, assign, and inspect the work of other employees.This recruitment is open to all applicants.
