The Composites Technician is responsible for all aspects of composite specimen preparation in the Physical Sciences Laboratory.
Read and interpret work orders to fabricate composite test panels using resin infusion, RTM, and other techniques with a high level of attention to detail.
Harvest composite test specimens from panels according to prints, drawings, and standards using saws, routers, and other cutting machinery.
Perform secondary bonding operations in compliance with test standards.
Drive continuous improvement by collaborating with lab personnel to enhance capabilities and streamline test procedures.
Conduct training sessions for new team members.
Ensure compliance with the TPI Physical Sciences Laboratory's ISO 17025 Quality Management System.
Assist with inventory management.
Maintain a safe and organized working environment.
Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
This is a full-time onsite role. Employees are expected to be present during standard business hours.
Required Qualifications:
At least 2 years of relevant experience in composites lamination and fabrication, machine shop operations, or a related field.
Familiarity with table saws, routers, and other composite cutting equipment.
Ability to read part drawings and interpret dimensions and tolerances.
Commitment to a safe work environment, including proper handling of hazardous materials and use of PPE.
Monitoring the work environment for Good Catch and continuous improvement opportunities.
Proficiency in MS Office applications and general data entry.
Proven ability to work effectively within high-performing teams.
